Colour Tip:
Keep eyebrows natural. If you're
blonde - go a shade darker to
define the shape. For brunettes -
match the shade to your hair
tone. If using a pencil to
emphasise shape and colour,
use small, feathery strokes
starting at the inside of the brow
outwards.
How to shape your eyebrows
Choosing the shape that's right for you

There are many different shapes of brow - here are
the most popular and easy to look after shapes:

Soft Angle

This is the classic brow shape for women - the arch is
defined but is kept rounded. It suits all face shapes
and can be shaped so that the thickness of the brow
complements the facial structure. Stronger bone
structure can take a heavier brow.

Angled

This is a strong shape which is angled at the arch. Its
great for round and broad faces and can also help to
balance a square jaw. It's a good shape for lifting the
eye shape but if you over do it, it can make you look
quite scary!

Rounded

This shape is rounded without a prominent arch. It
suits narrow diamond or oval faces, and is particularly
good on heart shaped faces. BUT If you have a round
face you should avoid this shape.

Straight

This brow has the very slightest arch. This shape
shortens long oval faces and gives them a rounder,
softer look.

You’ll find it easiest to work with the natural shape of
the hair if you don’t want to spend hours on
maintenance.

With each new seasons’ look and colour palette the top fashion houses
and cosmetic companies also announce new fashions and shapes for
eyebrows. Last season it was for glossy and straight,  spring 2008 saw a
return to a slightly thinner, more sculpted look, and now heavier brows
balance this seasons red lips.

This is one area however, where you should resist the fashion trend and
find the shape or style of brow that suits you. It’s fine to experiment with
thickness if your eyebrows grow quickly (take a look at Kate Winslet’s
brows since 2006), and colour can be changed using pencils or tints – but
before you start to experiment find your ideal shape first, one which
complements your face, and stick to it.

Eyes are the focal point of your face and eyebrows frame the eyes – so they
should always be well groomed if you want to make a good impression.
Plucking your eyebrows is the easiest and cheapest way of giving yourself
a ‘face-lift’ – poorly maintained eyebrows can add years to your face.

If you’re going to tweeze your own brows, you’ll need some essential
equipment (See Tool Kit) and a good light and a magnifying mirror, which
will help you see the finest of hairs, is really important. For a printable

Where should brows start, finish and
end?
On the information sheet (8 Steps to the
perfect eyebrow) you'll find diagrams
and pictures to help you find out where
your brow should start finish and end. If
your brows are a little sparse or short
you can define the shape and lengthen
the brow using an eyebrow pencil (See
